2021.10.24 00:59 jjjaded6 Side note for anyone who is a veteran
The CFR specifically stated veterans should be given the benefit of the doubt on any SBA loan. So how is it they repeatedly request the same documents, make up the same lies, deny without good cause and demand tax returns and transcripts they have had in their possession for 1.5 years when we have been in business for 50? Because their fraud detection Seisint from LexisNexis Risk Management has inaccurate information that the SBA is relying on to deny the loans. This is horseshit and deserved a congressional hearing.

2021.10.24 00:59 ghostaccount247 Ride/workout suggestions for shoulder labral tear and probable surgery
First time poster on new account but have previously been here and had great success with awesome advice.
I've been dealing off and on with left shoulder issues for the last five years related to falls from my mountain bike. It's now laid me off of work (I'm an RN needing to be able to do chest compressions to be work-worthy). I'm doing PT and seeing Ortho. Ortho recommended an MRI arthrogram of my shoulder to be done, and depending on what is seen, probable surgery in my future for what he thinks is definitely a labral tear (PT agrees) and also possibly a partial rotator cuff tear, and a pre-existing grade 2 AC separation from a couple of years ago...this shoulder has definitely been through it 😂.
Long story, but I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar, and if so, what workouts you'd recommend. I'd love lower body but can't seem to find many without weights (obviously I could modify), standing up core exercises, or if anyone has managed to set their bike up to accommodate this. I'm 5'10", so this may involve handlebar risers?
Obviously I will not do anything unless approved by Ortho and PT, but I figured if I could set up the Peloton to be good for the post op period, that'd be wonderful, and something they'd approve of when I'm ready. And it's giving me something to focus on besides missing work and possibly needing surgery.

2021.10.24 00:59 tripster2572 First Time Land Care
Hey everyone. I was hoping someone could give me some insight. I'm buying a home with 11 acres. About 3 acres straight out to the side of the home is flat, the rest is on a large wooded hill. The 'yard' portion is overgrown with very, very high grass. I literally have no idea how flat it is, or where holes, stumps, or rocks might be. How do I safely care for it for the first time?

2021.10.24 00:59 Alex_2259 Far left vs far right under an American lens; your thoughts?
I see many people on here insisting that "authoritarian ideology is inherently left-winged" or the "Nazis were socialist, it's in the name." I disagree, and here's what I believe to be the differences and similarities in such ideologies. I want to hear your thoughts, as maybe I am getting this wrong in my analysis.
The biggest difference I see is "embracing vs destroying" tradition. The far right brutally enforces tradition, and the far left wants to brutally destroy and replace it. Both ideologies tend to, when applied, be authoritarian and one-party in nature. They both tend to promote a police/military state, and both tend to devalue the individual in the name of the nation/state/common good. They seem almost identical, but in practice they actually build quite different nations/societies that operate under different goals and principles. This results in everything from religion and economy to starkly differ.
The Far Left
Communism was born out of Industrial Revolution era strife; and when revolutionaries took power in Russia/China they attempted to replace every aspect of life with their new vision. This meant abolishing religion, destroying traditional culture, and abolishing the hierarchical feudalistic (later, capitalism would become an enemy) that were present prior. Mao's Cultural Revolution is such an example. This makes sense, especially taking into context the time period and conditions that lead up to communist revolutions.
In modern America, we don't see many communists; and we apply the label "Marxist" quite liberally. People seem to be referring to the "far left" as a whole when they call someone a "Marxist" or "Neo-Marxist" as opposed to their Industrial Revolution counterparts. They do want to destroy traditional structures and label them as "oppressive" or "racist." Here in the US, that means rejecting most of the past of our nation and its's accomplishments/glory, often ignoring what we got right. If they're "anti democracy" seems to be more unclear to me, but it depends. Certainly they do advocate for more limitations on speech and other aspects the individual has.
This is the group Peterson faced in the university; what's odd is that the American far left isn't that present in office (no Fox News, Sanders isn't a communist; he's center-left by global standards) the far right here in the US tends to be quite strong, and growing in numbers. However, if it's in universities; this very well may be a delayed effect. Because evidently, this stuff exists in universities/corporations - and isn't going away.
The Far Right
Fascism was created in Italy, although the Nazis are the poster boy for far right ideology. Fascists and the far right as a whole tend to be the polar opposite of communists in some respect. They want to embrace the past, and tradition - at the barrel of a gun. Mussolini wanted to rebuild the Roman Empire; Hitler wanted to restore - and expand Germany to it's Imperial-age glory. Economically, fascist states tend to do alright because of the inherent properties of capitalism; something they don't want to destroy like the far left. But companies and the individual are still utilized and mobilized in the name of the "greater good." Again, fascism makes sense in the conditions it was founded in; like Tsaris Russia, post-WW1 tensions bred resentment and gave rise to such an ideology promising to restore former glory and "solve" the new problems of the 20th century.
In the United States, the far right tends to view the 1950s as this "illy defined golden age" to "restore." A time when industry was strong in the US due to the post-war period. Some go back further, and they embrace the past traditions/glory of the country and put them on a sort of pedestal. Our Neo-Confederates tend to be a special "type" of far right ideologue; but follow similar principals. We call the modern ones "populists," although some people, like communist/Marxist, apply the "fascist" label literally.
Far right ideology tends to be the poster-boy of racial supremacy; I reject that notion to an extent. The far right embraces tradition and the past; which is very often racist and embraces racial supremacy. However, in the US our country's past actually contains both elements. Irish-Americans successfully fought for their rights, we spilled quite a lot of blood to destroy slavery, and the Civil Rights movement was an unequivocal success. Despite what popular notion shows, the US is actually a relatively successful multicultural nation (such a feat is more rare than we'd think) Our history is shorter than that of many European nations, and the way our far right operates shows this in action.
The American far right group, "proud boys" for example, seemed to be quite divided here. They effectively had two leaders, Enrique Tarrio (a Cuban-American) and Kyle Chapman (a white American) some members, especially Neo-Confederates, tend to be racial supremacists. Others believe in a far right America, but more inclusive and diverse. The anti-democratic, devaluing of the individual sort of "national glory" trend, however, very much continues.
What are your thoughts on my analysis/what do you think I got wrong here? This is precisely how I understand the difference between the two groups we're dealing with in our current political climate.

2021.10.24 00:59 kiwipigeons Not taking "recommended" science courses?
How bad is it to not take "recommended" science courses (e.g genetics, immunology, cell bio, molecular bio, microbiology etc)?
To give context I would take these classes if I could but I am a humanities major who's trying to graduate a year early mainly for financial reasons. I've completed all the traditional prereqs and even have biochem and plan to do biochem lab. I've also done pretty well in all of these courses. I now have one semester left that's coming up and a lot of these "recommend" courses are not offered at my school in the spring. I really can only do genetics and anatomy at this point. Although I really would like to avoid genetics if I can because of other schedule conflicts.
How bad is it that I've never really taken upper level bio courses and these other recommended courses? Will schools understand my situation given the fact that I'm not a STEM major? I know it's only a "recommendation" but I've heard recommend usually means required.
Any advice would be great. Thanks!
